India Care Collective

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the global economy hard, including India, where a majority of the population has been impacted in the wake of the 21-day lockdown to contain the outbreak of the virus. This has had an overbearing impact on the livelihoods of the people. There has been a loss of life and shelter, lack of food, health, and hygiene.

As the majority suffers from the lockdown, it becomes imperative for the minority to care. While we hear that the lockdown is the only solution to control the pandemic, better solutions can be derived from conscience to ease the blow that it has caused to certain sections of the society, such as construction workers, drivers, house helps, and other migrant workers. Since more than 80% of India’s workforce belongs to the unorganized sector, they have no access to formal finance hampering their day to day basic requirements which are essential in this pandemic situation.

A collective conscience gave birth to India Collective Care, a citizens' group, working towards providing monetary relief assistance to the families impacted because of wage loss situations arising due to the coronavirus pandemic. The I2C Group has been brought together by Mr. Abhishek Gupta, an ISB alumnus and Advisor to Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi on higher education and VET.

The I2C is a 'pan-India initiative', run by some motivated souls. We have a bona fide identification system in place for the beneficiaries, who will be allotted to the donors after thorough verification. The donors will be able to access the beneficiary contact details and verify receipt of payment. This shall enable donors to directly cater to the needs of the beneficiary.

India Care Collective ( I2C ) is reaching out to families of people like Anuradha and Seema, to help them out with the immediate cash benefits to buying basic food requirements.

Within a week of this initiative, the I2C team has been able to help more than 100 beneficiaries with more than 2 lakh committed assistance on behalf of the amazing contributors and I2C team is motivated to bringing a smile to those families with the help of the contributors and volunteers who are impacted because of this COVID-19 Pandemic.
